Wildflowers in bloom

This weekend, Kris and attended the 10,000 Lake Festival near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Though I've been more impressed, 10KLF did offer a few good acts such as The Wood Brothers and, of course, the Flaming Lips (who, I vowed to see before I was 30... and was probably the most fun show I've ever, ever seen)

Instead of staying at the campgrounds, we decided to camp out (in an actual bed, in an actual house) at my parents place... just a short drive from DL. I was surprised to see my dad's Wildflowers in full bloom... so, because I was sad I couldn't take any photos at 10K (though, you could have fooled me with all the Canon Rebels I saw float around), I took some simple flower photos. Nothing fancy.. or good.. they're just so pretty.

MORE! MORE! MORE! More of my faves can be found here!

Tena

I can't believe Tena is already a senior this year. Back when I used to spend a couple weeks in the summer with the Pattersons, Tena was simply that "little kid" that used follow Errin (her sister, my cousin/friend/maid of honor in my wedding) and me around endlessly. Now, all grown up, I can't help but compare her to her two older sisters, Amy and Errin. She's turned out to be a lovely, smart, young lady... and she makes me feel old :)

Anywho, last week, Tena came down to Fargo for her graduate portraits. We spent the afternoon in the studio, then head to West Fargo's premier hot spots (storage facility, random field, stockyards... we even managed to get stuck in a mud driveway!) to take some pictures.

Enjoy!

Winnipeg Folk Festival 2008

I feel like I'm going to disappoint with my Winnipeg Folk Festival photographs this year... to be honest, I really didn't take that many pictures. Odd, you might say... Britta always takes a lot of photographs at the WFF every year. Yes, my friends, I usually do... but, this year we dealt with the elements, and, frankly, it wore me out.

Despite a high wind advisory on Saturday, and cold, wet rain (with plenty of prairie wind) on both Friday and Saturday, the Winnipeg Folk Festival was pretty good this year. The music, as usual, was awesome. My highlights were definitely Calixico, Kathleen Edwards (who just released a new, stellar, album), Abigale Washburn and Sparrow Quartet (including Bela Fleck), Balkan Beat Box, Michael Franti and Spearhead (for the second year), and Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

Thursday, when we arrived, was a beautiful summer day. Nice and cool, big blue skies... lots of campers. Kris and took a stroll around the campground and checked out the 2008 scene.

Every year, the Castle Boys put up a makeshift building for people to party. In the past they've built a castle, a coliseum, a barn, ect. This year, they put up a Saloon, and, I must say, it was pretty cool.

#10 Marissa & Chris

Weather wise, Marissa and Chris' wedding was one of the most eventful I've ever attended. It started off as a beautiful, sunny, afternoon... followed by some of the worst weather I've ever seen in Moorhead. Of course, that didn't bring this adorable couple down!

Their wedding took place in small little Mooreton, ND... with a reception at the Marriott in Moorhead.
